Brain Science That Will Radically Transform Your Sex Life

It’s a snowy day in Minneapolis, with a winter storm warning in effect.  As I stare out the window at the big flakes, I’m reminded of the one true constant that nature teaches us – a transition of seasons and the uncertainty of weather.  As much as we have evolved technology to predict the weather Mother Nature throws our way, we have become accustomed to the fact that is is never constant, always evolving and finds a way to create harmony and balance and restore itself.   I’ve often wondered how our lives would differ if we felt the same way about unexpected life events and how usually the most challenging storms in our life often give us the perspective we need to enjoy the sunny days in a new way.  With every new conversation and interview with a high level entrepreneur, I have realized that HOW AND WHY they choose to weather the storm and the story they attach to adversity, reveals their character, vision, purpose and mission in a deeper, more meaningful way. They have a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the gift of uncertainty that life has given them.

As excited as I am to share that 2 million collagen elixir bottles have reached the doorsteps of customers across North America, I’m most excited about the feedback from our first WellSpoken Lifestyle Empowerment Experience with Amanda O’Reilly.  The glow up of inner worth, self confidence and the value you place on yourself as an evolving human in this life experience fills my heart with so much gratitude.  You can find the link to a sneak peek of the event here: https://youtu.be/zdBTzt9Frcw

We announced our prize winner giveaways for the event and they are so elated to kick off their new year with our partnership gifts!

And Emily Nagoski can prove it.

Creating a space where you feel supported, seen, and heard and can vulnerably share the fears, self-doubts, and limiting beliefs that are holding you back from your best life, is my purpose.  Full immersion experiences that are inclusive and provide you with a sense of belonging have been one of the keys to fast-tracking my results and transformation emotionally, physically and financially.

We received countless messages of the breakthroughs women were having in simply understanding that our thoughts are not who we are.  When we can become an observer of our thoughts, we can start to get curious about narratives that have been on repeat.  Do you feel like you are your own worst critic like I used to?  If you said your self talk out loud and even went a step farther to write down your thoughts daily, what story would you be telling yourself?  It is empowering or disempowering?  I had borrowed limiting stories from previous relationships that had created self sabotaging behaviors and fueled my insecurities. Breaking free of these patterns took time and deep work from both professional counseling and daily consistent mindset work.  I quickly realized the more exposure I had to experiences that broadened my lens of the world, the more I could invite curiosity, peace, and acceptance into my own life journey.

The intention for the upcoming empowerment experiences is to talk about the topics we don’t talk about.  Before I went live on social this week to share an invitation to our next virtual sexual wellness experience, I joked that I should have had a drink to calm my nerves.  (https://www.instagram.com/tv/CKVHpJXgmwh/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)  But, I found the courage to share, because I’ve asked myself how I can withhold the education, tools, and resources that have had the most impact on my life.

You may have had an exceptional upbringing with empowering parents or teachers who told you how beautiful your curiosity and acceptance of your body was, or like me, an anchoring of deep shame and guilt from cultural norms and stigma around this topic.   I wanted a different upbringing for my girls and one that included open conversation, education and empowerment.

I found it ironic that one of my favorite adult workbooks, Come As You Are, by Emily Nagoski, was about this subject of shame in our bodies, sexuality, and the pleasure gap.

An essential exploration of why and how women’s sexuality works—based on groundbreaking research and brain science—that will radically transform your sex life into one filled with confidence and joy. (https://www.emilynagoski.com/)

Researchers have spent the last decade trying to develop a “pink pill” for women to function like Viagra does for men. So where is it? Well, for reasons this book makes crystal clear, that pill will never be the answer—but as a result of the research that’s gone into it, scientists in the last few years have learned more about how women’s sexuality works than we ever thought possible, and Come as You Are explains it all.

The first lesson in this essential, transformative book by Dr. Emily Nagoski is that every woman has her own unique sexuality, like a fingerprint, and that women vary more than men in our anatomy, our sexual response mechanisms, and the way our bodies respond to the sexual world. So we never need to judge ourselves based on others’ experiences. Because women vary, and that’s normal.

Second lesson: sex happens in a context. And all the complications of everyday life influence the context surrounding a woman’s arousal and desire.

Cutting-edge research across multiple disciplines tells us that the most important factor for women in creating and sustaining a fulfilling sex life, is not what you do in bed or how you do it, but how you feel about it. Which means that stress, mood, trust, and body image are not peripheral factors in a woman’s sexual wellbeing; they are central to it. Once you understand these factors, and how to influence them, you can create for yourself better sex and more profound pleasure than you ever thought possible.

I’m not an expert on this topic, but I may be like you.  Curious, open to learning and exploring, but lacking the confidence to communicate my needs.  Maybe you’re just discovering what it feels like to embrace play and drop the guilt and shame to become a free, sexy in your own way, radiating and glowing goddess that you are.  Or, maybe you have experienced trauma, like so many women and are still trying to find your way through it.  That’s why I am bringing a team of sexual health psychology and wellbeing experts to our private, lighthearted pillow talk event on Thursday.  (https://www.eventbrite.com/myevent?eid=135054514689)
